Calandrah was born as the first child Joseph and Ardahleah Paxton, and she grew up on Betazed. As she was only 25% Betazoid, it was considered a small miracle that she could enter the Betazed Institute of Psychological and Telepathic Harmony at only age 16. Her parents were very proud of her, and when her Psychology teacher Enara Oldan recommended her for entering Starfleet Academy, the entire family moved back to Earth, her fathers home planet. She graduated as third in her class in 2370, with a minor in emergency medical care. The year after her graduation, she spent as a Psychology teacher at the Academy, but soon tired of it. She was then transferred to Deep Space 2, shortly after being promoted to Lieutenant (JG). She served there as a junior counselor and medical assistant for a year. When she was promoted to full Lieutenant later that year, she decided to demand a transfer to a Starship. She was placed as counselor onboard the USS Yorktown, where she also had come diplomatic duties. It was these duties that led to her promotion to Lieutenant Commander and the Medal of Valor for saving the life of an Ambassador and hisaides. The details of the mission is classified. Shortly after her promotion, she was again transferred, this time to the USS Ramses-A, at the request of her new Captain, Denis Kepler. She was quickly accepted among the crew, and made close friends with several, among them Chief Engineer Victor Adams, Lt. Daniel Gibbons and the Captain himself. It was here where she developed her interest in baseball, after spending several days of her spare time in the Holodeck, playing with the other senior officers. After the main part of the senior crew had been placed under arrest and Court Martialed for an accidental destruction of a Civilian Outpost, she managed to slip away and assume temporary command of the Ramses-A, with the blessings of Captain Kepler. With the help of the ship's Intelligence Officer, Mr. Jonathan Kyle, she managed to bring back enough evidence from the crime scene for the verdict to become a positive one for the senior crew. When Captain Kepler decided to take command of the USS Sirius, which had the purpose of finding USS Voyager in the Delta Quadrant, she never hesitated to follow him. The same year, they were married and had a daughter, Axianne. The wedding was held onboard the USS Ramses-A, under the command of Captain Daniel Gibbons.
In 2376, she was promoted to Captain after her husband Denis had been critically injured during an away mission to rescue the ship's helmsman, Lt. Tom Jorin, after he had been captured and tortured by the Aloner race. Calandrah had gotten a preminition that something would happen and wanted to go too, but her captain and husband ordered her not to, being 6 months pregnant and all. Her feelings had been right, and Denis was shot with a molecular destabilizor in the chest, causing his body to slowly break up into atoms. As Chief Medical Officer Daria had no cure, he was placed in cryostasis until a cure could be found. Because of the stress and shock she had gotten, Calandrah went into labor prematurely, and later gave birth to twin girl, whom she names Denise, after her husband, and Oceane, after the great waters they were sailing on. At the same time, she recieved her promotion and her new command, which was on the Sirius.
